This Month the Nation Celebrates Women in History

Fine Wine, Six at a Time, Trivia Rally

March marks Women in History month. Last March the Wine Trail honored those women who are busy making history though grape growing and wine making in Frederick county. Over this past year, many of you have ventured out to our wineries, experienced our hospitality, gotten to know us and enjoyed our individual wines.

As we turn our lives these days to more local experiences, this March the Wine Trail presents a “Fine Wine, Six at a Time, Trivia Rally.” Print out the entry form below; visit each of the six Wine Trail wineries this March; learn the answer to the trivia question about one of the women members of each winery. Once your ballot is complete, drop it at any winery and if you have the correct answers, your ballot will be entered into a drawing to win a collection of six wines, one from each winery.

Deadline for ballot entry is March 31, 2009. The winner will be notified by April 11, 2009. Must be over 21 to enter.

Here are the questions:

1. Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard -- Which woman helped plan the NASA moon shots?

2. Linganore Winecellars -- What is Lucille’s favorite tip?

3. Elk Run Vineyards –For what honor was Carol nominated in 2007?

4. Loew Vineyards -- When did Lois sell the winery’s first bottle of wine?

5. Frederick Cellars – What product did Emily make from her first harvest?

6. Black Ankle Vineyards -- Which Bordeaux winery did Sarah work at during the 2003 harvest?
